| My great grandmother is Fannie Lee Edwards (maiden name Van Hooser, daughter of John Van Hooser and Fannie Freshour). I remember meeting her once in approximately 1969. I was home on leave from the Marine Corps, just back from Viet Nam, and very proud of my dress blue uniform. Just before going to see my great grandmother my mom and grandmother were whispering. I asked what was up. They asked me if I would mind not wearing my dress blue jacket. They did not think my great grandmother would understand me wearing that Yankee uniform.
